Caprica a Battlestar Galactica prequel

Since one of my fav shows of all time Battlestar Galactica will end it run in 2009 I am not a happy puppy. I can not even start to tell you how sad I am knowing we only have 11 shows to look forward to in 09'. A little hope for the future of Cylon_centurion_2 my TV happiness is called Caprica a 2-hour pilot episode of a  Battlestar Galactica prequel, produced by Ronald D. Moore. Set on the fictional planet Caprica, approximately fifty to seventy years before the events depicted in the re-imagined series, Caprica is described as "television's first science fiction family saga."

Caprica shows the Twelve Colonies at peace and living in a society close to our own, when a startling breakthrough in robotics brings to life the age-old dream of marrying artificial intelligence with mechanical bodies. Joseph Adama – father of future Battlestar commander William Adama – a renowned civil liberties lawyer, becomes an opponent of the experiments undertaken by the Graystones, owners of the computer giant spearheading the development of these living robots: the Cylons.

Nick Stahl out and Christian Bale says hello to Terminator 4

Terminator_004 Well we all know T3 was wack and even with that I did not mind Nick Stahl at all. I guess the studios felt a little different. The fourth movie in the Terminator franchise will reach North American theaters on May 22, 2009, coinciding with the U.S. Memorial Day holiday weekend, distributor Warner Bros. said. Christian Bale will star as rebel leader John Connor in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins which is scheduled to begin production in the spring in New Mexico. Charlie’s Angels filmmaker McG will direct the movie, which is expected to be the first in a new Terminator trilogy.

When Nick Stahl was asked how he feels about the news he said "I don’t care really, to be honest,” admitted the 28-year-old actor, at Sundance recently to promote “Sleepwalking” and “Quid Pro Quo,” two upcoming indies with decidedly smaller budgets than “Rise of the Machines.” “I don’t have much interest.”

“They said it would be a 50-year-old man, but I guess they reduced the age a little bit,” Stahl said of how the franchise producers had explained the plot to him. “That’s what they told me very early on [in development of the ‘Salvation’ script]. That it was gonna take place further in the future, and I probably wouldn’t be on.”

Discussing the man who will step into Stahl’s role, much as he once did for the legendary Eddie Furlong, the actor said: “I like [Bale] a lot…he’s a little older, and they wanted someone a little older, and also he’s got a name. He’s a big guy now. So, God bless.”

“I love the franchise, and I love the movies,” he continued, “so I’ll probably be seeing the fourth one.”

'NO MORE STAR WARS'

Darth_vader HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN will not take part in any future STAR WARS movies - because the sci-fi franchise stifled his creativity.

The Jumper star played Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the final Star Wars trilogy - but he has vowed never again to work with director George Lucas on big budget sci-fi projects.

He tells New York Daily News, "It wasn't necessarily anything you could feel good about creatively. It's not why you become an actor, to do stuff like that."

9/11 Changed Science Fiction

Cloverfield has everybody talking about the way science fiction is dealing with the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of 9/11, but that giant monster movie is hardly the first SF creation to tackle terrorism, high-tech surveillance, and governments run amok in the post-9/11 era. As the United States has cracked down on civil liberties at home, and invaded nations abroad, in the name of national security, a crop of futuristic and fanciful tales have sprung up to satirize and justify "the war on terror." These tales generally deal with one of five crucial post-9/11 themes, which we've enumerated (with examples) for you below.

Back to the Future and Close Encounters of the Third Kind will last forever

Closeencounters3k Two classic sci-fi films, Back to the Future (Robert Zemeckis, 1985) and Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Steven Spielberg, 1977), are among the 25 films selected this year to be preserved by the Library of Congress National Film Registry, with the intent that they are available for future generations to enjoy.

The announcement by the Librarian of Congress notes that "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant films from many eras and genres are selected in the annual effort to choose specific films to be guarded against deterioration. Nearly 500 films have been chosen for physical protection since the establishment of the Registry in 1992.

"Even as Americans fill the movie theaters to see the latest releases, few are aware that up to half the films produced in this country before 1950 -- and as much as 90 percent of those made before 1920 -- are lost forever," said the Librarian, James H. Billington. Early film stock was recycled for the silver nitrate content, and any film – unless very carefully stored in environmentally controlled conditions – will break down in mere decades. Even most digital media are not designed for generations

'Battlestar Galactica' Season 4 Gets April Date

Despite the excellent two-hour Razor movie, it feels as though it's been ages since the last new episode of Battlestar Galactica.  The season 3 finale left fans gasping at the bigBsg3ladies2 reveal that Colonel Tigh (Michael Hogan), Sam Anders, Chief Tyrol (Aaron Douglas), and Tory Foster were Cylons, and we've been left debating the meaning behind it all since last March.  Now, after waiting months for an official announcement, the Sci Fi Channel has finally revealed that Battlestar Galactica season will begin Friday, April 4, at 10pm.  It's unknown whether the Friday location will be the show's permanent time slot, or if it'll move to a different place on the schedule following the premiere.

Tin Man

Scifitinmansetsratingrecords The new SCI FI Channel mini-series Tin Man opened to record-breaking ratings as the show raked in big numbers, becoming the highest rated telecast ever for the network.

The Tin Man is a remake of classic L. Frank Baum story of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. So far I can say I am not impressed but I will leave my full review for when the mini series is done. I really want to like this so my fingers are crossed it will get better.
