Black scifi author nominated for best novel of 2006

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (BlackNews.com)-H. Wolfgang "Wolf" Porter recently was nominated for the 2006 Darrell Award for best fantasy/adventure novel.

Tales Porter's first novel, "Tales From the Long Road" is a fantasy/adventure for the 21st century. Finally, a story free of cute cuddly characters yet filled with intrigue, romance and terror. From start to finish, "Tales From the Long Road" will keep you guessing and put you in places only the fearless-and foolish-dare go. Porter, a native of Newark, N.J., now resides in Arkansas. He earned his bachelor of fine arts degree from Arkansas State University, a master's in film from the Savannah College of Art & Design, is a former U.S. Naval combat cameraman. He also taught in the Arkansas Public School System. Now a writer-producer director for his own independent production company, "Wolf" uses his adventures to write books and produce movies. The purpose of the award is to promote literacy in the mid-South by recognizing the best published regional science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Porter said he is especially interested in getting young African Americans to explore literacy through Science Fiction and Fantasy/Adventure.
