Black scifi author nominated for best novel of 2006
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (BlackNews.com)-H. Wolfgang "Wolf" Porter recently was nominated for the 2006 Darrell Award for best fantasy/adventure novel.
Porter's first novel, "Tales From the Long Road" is a fantasy/adventure
for the 21st century. Finally, a story free of cute cuddly characters
yet filled with intrigue, romance and terror. From start to finish,
"Tales From the Long Road" will keep you guessing and put you in places
only the fearless-and foolish-dare go.
Porter, a native of Newark, N.J., now resides in Arkansas. He earned
his bachelor of fine arts degree from Arkansas State University, a
master's in film from the Savannah College of Art & Design, is a
former U.S. Naval combat cameraman. He also taught in the Arkansas
Public School System. Now a writer-producer director for his own
independent production company, "Wolf" uses his adventures to write
books and produce movies.
The purpose of the award is to promote literacy in the mid-South by
recognizing the best published regional science fiction, fantasy, and
horror. Porter said he is especially interested in getting young
African Americans to explore literacy through Science Fiction and
Fantasy/Adventure.
